Getting out of a slump

It is pretty safe to say my blog, YouTube channel, and pretty much all social media accounts have been in a slump. I'd love to say it's because I've been so incredibly busy I haven't had the time to think about posting anything. Unfortunately, that would be a lie. I've been in a slump, a creative, unmotivated slump. Being in a slump is not a terrible thing but I do think it is important to recognize when you are in a slump and try to get yourself out of one. Here are my tips to help you get out of a slump.

1. Plan out your day and start fresh. Starting your morning with clear plan and mindset will help you move throughout the day getting everything you need to do done. - Starting the day with a task you've been avoiding is a great way to get it out of the way when you have all of your energy.

2. Get outside and get moving. I know for me, fresh air and exercise help me get into a better mood. When you've been stuck inside all day on your laptop you can easily become unmotivated and want to just crawl into bed. - Fresh air is always a good idea.

3. Make some changes. If you are used to spending your days the same way everyday then do something differently. Talk a different walk to work or get coffee at a new spot. The smallest change can help spark your creativity and help motivate you.

4. Reach out to a friend. Often good company helps a lot, if you’re just alone and keep playing the same things in your head, it’s really hard to get out of a bad/tired/anxious mood.

5. If nothing works, just have a cup of coffee and remind yourself it will pass. Be kind to yourself and don’t beat yourself about it.

Life Update

As you probably could tell I've been absent from my blog, well pretty much absent from all social media platforms, since the summer. Honestly, there isn't one particular reason, more like a long list full of events and changes in my own life that have caused me to put social media on the back burner.

I've really missed sharing my outfits, tutorials, and overall life adventures on my blog and media channels. So with that being said, I'm back! Well, I'm coming back! As for now, here are some photos and a video of what I've been up to for the past 8 months!

& keep an eye out for more posts and videos to come!

The Girl in the Tan Hat | A Curious Outfit

I am ready for fall! Bring on the chunky sweaters, OTK boots, and blanket scarfs! Unfortunately it is still pretty warm in New England so I'll settle for this high neck sweater from Asos. This sweater is extremely soft and I have been obsessed with the mauve color. Almost everything I bought for the fall is in this shade! I finally have a chance to break out my floppy hat I bought during this summers Nordstrom anniversary sale. If you didn't get a chance to pick it up this summer it is still available in black! I finished off the look with a matching colored pair of sandals, these ones are from Steve Madden and they are so comfortable! I've worn even worn them out to brunch in the city!

I know I've been pretty MIA from my blog lately and I do plan on changing that! I have a ton of outfit posts coming for you all! I can't wait to show you some of the fall looks I've put together!

On that note, what are some of your fall must-haves?

The Friday Five | Vol. 1

I have never been someone like enjoys wearing flip flops. Ask anyone, I'm either in sneakers, booties, or sandals. I've never liked the feeling on my feet so I've always stayed away from them. Sandals on the other hand, I love! I love how versatile they can be! Some are super casual whereas some are really dressy, others are both! I've chosen my top five favorite this summer! The prices vary and there is a style for all of your needs! Let me know what pair is your favorite! Mine are definitely the Steve Madden Rizzaa!

These five accounts are ones that I am constantly looking at. I love all of their feeds so much! Once you look at them all you'll notice something in common...They're mainly beach themed. Granted this could be because we are in prime summertime right now but to be honest it is because I love the beach. I want to move to the beach as soon as I can! So here are the five accounts I love to stalk on Instagram!

@JanniD Janni's feed is straight goals! Seriously, she travels so often and is constantly posting amazing outfit photos! I've been following her blog and YouTube channel for a while now and you should too!

@TheBlondeAbroad Here username says it all! Kiersten travels all over the world and posts amazing photos of her travels! You'll want to take a trip everyday when you see where she is!

@SjanaElise I have been following Sjana since I first got Instagram. She is obviously an amazing yogi, but she also posts a lot of motivation in the captions of her photos. Even though her photos are gorgeous, you should pay attention to what she writes.

@The_Salty_Blonde Halley is the beach girl we all wish we were! She is constantly at the beach with the most perfect beachy waves in her hair. Yes, you'll be extremely jealous while going through her feed!

@TiaBlanco Tia is a professional surfer and a vegan. She loves to spread positive message about life and food. I love seeing all her food recipes and photos (they can also been seen at @TiasVeganKitchen )

Just like every other person, I love light reads on the beach. Summer is the perfect time to read light hearted, easy reads. If you know me well, you'd know that I love to read. I am constantly reading a book, but I am a very hard person to please book wise. I tend to stick to the books I know and constantly re-read them. Seriously, I've read some books over 5 times! But this summer I am really trying to get out of that habit and find some new books! Here are the five that have caught my eye! I plan on taking at least three with my on my cruise at the end of the month! Thank goodness I have a Kindle!
